A special orchestral educational performance, arranged with the mission school (DSS),
was a great success. The KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra presented an educational performance
for the school children (and the many adults who also attended). Educational Officer,
Madoda Mtshali, together with various members of the orchestra, explained and demonstrated
the various instruments.
More about
the musicians: Many of the players have been trained in some of Europe and North
Americas finest music conservatories and academies, in centres such as London,
Paris, Geneva and Vancouver - and some even come from the musically famed Russian city of
Odessa, which spawned several of the past centurys most celebrated violinists and
violin pedagogues, such as the legendary David Oistrakh.
