New Centre - Mahlaba

In November 2000 a project to build a centre in the Mahlaba district began. Mr Manfred
Ludwig has been handling the building project which is now almost complete. Kwasizabantu
Germany and South Africa, together with `Wirtschaftsministerium Baden Wuerttemberg' in
Germany, have planned, financed and built the centre.
A community centre is being built and clean water is made available for the whole
community of about 50 families. Locals come from at least 4 km away to fetch water (see
photos below.) The water is clean and tastes good.
Since there is no electrical power in the area Mr Ludwig is experimenting with
`photo-voltage' (solar power) as well as wind energy, for pumping water and providing
light.
The community centre is also to be used for training in agriculture, hygiene, Aids
counseling, sewing projects and weaving, adult literacy, basic carpentry, and other social
upliftment projects. Church services will be held in the hall.
Project managers hope to introduce the planting of various nutritious vegetables and
fruits.
One of the aims of the project is to reduce the unemployment and criminality in these
areas.
Together with missionary Martin Stegen and other local leaders in the area, including
chiefs (amakhosi) and indunas, the project is planned and managed.

We trust that the Gospel can go out with the Lord's blessing. Many have found Christ in
these areas, since the revival began 3 decades ago and we trust that the centre will
continue the good work which God began.
