Mk 14:51 - 52
"And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his
naked body: and the young men laid hold on him:
And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked."
Why are you following Jesus? Are you following him because of the blessings you see
those have that follow Jesus? If you do not follow Jesus by faith, like Moses, who
esteemed the reproach of Christ of greater riches than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a
time, you will soon be stripped naked.
This young man followed Jesus, but was not properly prepared to follow him. When the
going got tough, he had to flee from them naked. Just think also of the seven sons of
Sceva, trying to imitate Paul. They also fled naked from the demon-possessed man. Now,
their theology was correct – the Jesus whom Paul preached - but their lives were not
accordingly. And so it will happen to you too, if your life do not testify to the Jesus of
the Bible and what he taught.
Oh, that we may follow Jesus out of the right motive. That we may have regard to Him,
and not the world, as Moses, looking to that which has eternal value.
