| Summary of Sunday Sermon
Sunday 12 August 2001 - engagement of Hulda and Danie
Erlo Stegen - Dan 5:25-28
The service started with the KwaSizabantu Choir rendering a few items
in song:
Afterwards the couple to get engaged was called forward for the ceremony. As in many
previous engagement, the symbol of the ring that the young man gives to the lady was
explained: Danie, by giving the ring to Hulda, promises that he would remain pure in body
and spirit and keep himself to the day of marriage. Hulda, in receiving the ring, binds
herself to the same promise.

Erlo Stegen brought the message from Dan 5:25-28.
Firstly: God numbered Belshazzar's kingdom and finished it. This we
find throughout the Bible - that God numbers everything. God doesn't just rule generally,
but He is acquainted with the finest details. God knows our lives to the finest details.
He knows the number of times, the dates etc. that you've sinned. They are all numbered. He
also knows the number of times you've been under the Word of God.
Secondly: Belshazzar was weighed in God's balances and found wanting.
So too, God weighs us, and woe to us if we are found wanting. Does your Christian life
measure up to God's standard? Does your Christian life measure up to the light you have
received from God and to the number of times you've been under His Word? How can your life
be so frivolous, having received so much light from God?
Lastly: God divided his kingdom between the Medes and Persians. Woe
to you if God weighs you, finds you too light and divides you among the devils and demons;
unless you do not repent. May we remember these words:
MENE - Numbered - God numbers you
TEKEL - Judgement - God weighs
UPHARSIN - Division - God divides and hands over
