| Kwasizabantu Easter - 2002 A number of Kwasizabantu teams are have been
invited to address various Easter conferences. Teams speaking at Easter meetings have been
in Europe, Botswana, Nelspruit, Secunda, Port Elizabeth and Durban. (To read more about
the Easter service in a Durban Football Stadium click here.)
Easter services at Kwasizabantu have been on themes from Matt 26. On Thursday night
Kjell Olsen preached from verse 6 to 16 where the woman did a beautiful deed in pouring
out the expensive perfume upon her Lord but was sharply criticised by the disciples who
were didn't understand what was about to happen. Michael Ngubane preached at the Good
Friday morning service (click here to
read a summary and listen to audio recordings) from verse 36 to 46. In the afternoon two
young people gave their testimonies of what the Cross had done in their lives. Then Ian
Engelbrecht shared from the same chapter verse 30. Christ, knowing He was about to be
betrayed and crucified, was able to sing a hymn with His disciples. In the evening service
Marius Pretorius preached from 26:45 asking the question "are you still
sleeping?"
The Saturday morning service was conducted by Rev Erlo Stegen who preached from Mark
14:72 and spoke about how God has used different insignificant creatures to speak to His
people. He ended with the point that the rooster (sometimes used on church steeples)
heralds the new day which has dawned. Through Jesus Christ's death on Calvary there is
fullness of victory for He has conquered the enemy and given forgiveness of sin.
True Love Waits was presented Saturday afternoon. From 2 Tim 2:22 we see that young
people should not only flee from youthful lusts, but also follow after righteousness,
faith, love, peace and be filled with God's Spirit. They should live such lives that no
one despise them (1 Tim 4:12), but be an example in word, conversation, love, spirit,
faith and purity.
The Saturday evening sermon was taken by Detlef Stegen from Mt 27:45 & 46. Here we
see Jesus crying out in agony, because he is forsaken by God. Your and my sin was placed
on Him, and God hid His face from His only Son. Why do you cry out? Mankind tend to cry
not because of his sin, but rather because he ruined his life, and cannot enjoy his sin
any more. Your only hope is to come to the Light that has come into this world, bring your
sin into this Light, cry for mercy, confess it and forsake it.
