The service started with a report back by Bongani Zondi on their stay at the Malelane mission and how the Lord is bringing people to repentance. "It is a sight to look up at the hills and see people streaming down the footpaths, from all directions, to come to the services," said co-worker Bongani.
Then, Rev Friedel Stegen shared of the Lord's mighty working in Europe and the theme of God's power. (click here for a audio in MP3)

Sunday 2 February 2003 - "Blood Guilt - Sanctity Life Sunday"

(Summary of sermon by Erlo Stegen)

Genesis 9:6

"Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man."

Psalm 106:38

"And shed innocent blood, even the blood of the sons and of their daughters."

This is what the Bible says about life but governments have laid it aside and tried to negate it. However, no law of God is destroyed by rulers for His Word will abide forever.

Today, 2nd February 2003, is commemorated as `Sanctity Life Sunday' since it is 6 years ago that ex-president Nelson Mandela, signed into law, the right to abortion. Today, the closest Sunday to 1 February, marks 6 years of abortion on demand and we are told that 285,000 babies have been killed.

We would understand it if is said that somone murdered another person because of their hatred but how is it possible to murder your "sons and daughters", as we read in Psalm 106:38?

The story of a certain Elaine Rotondo illustrates the awful guilt and anguish that comes with the crime of abortion. (Click here to read the story)

The importance of evangelising: Remember what was said a few weeks ago? If each one of you wins just one person to the Lord, a year, and that person does the same, the whole world can be won for the Lord within 33 years. Since then, someone pointed out to me that we should also remind ourselves about how many people we may have caused to stumble in the past year. Are you being won over by worldliness or are you winning others to the Lord?

Spilling another person's blood is wicked, as in abortion. But think also of the damage done to souls, perhaps your own soul?

In the story of Elaine the only answer to her deep anguish and guilt for having aborted two of her babies was Isaiah 53:5 "The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."
