"Know
ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His
people, and the sheep of His pasture." (Psalm 100:3).
People don't anymore acknowledge that the Lord is God. People look
at technology and put their trust in it and forget that even technology was instituted by
God. God created the world and so He made technology possible. Without God we wouldn't be
here today. Without God the earth would be void.
We tend to do things and create things and don't acknowledge that
it is all from God. No matter what we do, enjoy, see and feel, it was created by Someone.
As Christians we know it was created by God.
Mankind tries to prove that everything doesn't come from God. But
His Word shows again and again that God made everything.
Nowadays we also take the planning of our family into our own
hands. We try to show God that we can live without Him. We plan and do things as we want
and don't acknowledge God in everything. It would be wonderful if we go home today and
once again give God His rightful place in our lives. That we don't do things as we want
anymore but wait upon Him.
We sing that we crown Him King, but is He truly the One that is
crowned King in our lives?
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward
you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then
shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And
ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will
be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather
you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the
LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away
captive." (Jeremiah 29:11-14).
If God is God in my life I am totally dependant upon Him and I
seek His will and plan for my life. So I know that no matter what comes my way it is of
God.
When the children of Israel came out of Egypt the Lord worked
wondrously among them. He destroyed Pharaoh's army in the Red sea when all seemed lost. He
parted the Red sea for them to go through on dry ground. He provided food for them in the
winderness. And so the list goes on and on.
But the Israelites didn't see God in it. They murmured against God
and against Moses at every opportunity.
That's what happens to us so easily. When difficulties come our
way and we are cornered, we get bitter and murmur against God and long back to Egypt
spiritually. We want to surrender to our enemies.
"And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not,
stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will show to you to day: for the
Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever."
(Exodus 14:13).
God wanted to test them whether they were truly a people where
"The Lord is God" under all circumstances. Moses encouraged them in the Lord to
stand still and be calm and see the salvation of the Lord.
It is God's Word to us too, "stay calm and see the salvation
of the Lord".
Things seemed impossible. There was no way out. They were forced
into a situation where they had no way out.
Many times we are gripped with fear when difficulties come.
Moses experienced in the past how God saved and did miracles and
he knew that he could fully trust in the Lord.
God in Heaven looks down to see if His people will truly crown Him
as God in their lives. He does that even today with you and me.
Many times we come into situations and we don't know what to do.
Wait and trust upon the Lord.
In a conversation we are quick to give an answer, in stead of being quiet and waiting upon
the Lord to give an answer.
God has a plan with you and me and He wants to glorify Himself in
our lives. This is important - that God may be God in our lives and that we don't take a
step without Him. We follow Him.
We must be totally dependent upon the Lord and when it becomes too
difficult, we must allow Him to carry us.
When we get anxious we can't think clearly anymore and react in a
way that we should not react. God cannot glorify Himself in such a life. That's where many
of us go wrong when we can't stay calm. We should wait upon Him to rescue us and so
confirm our unshakeable trust in Him.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his
promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that
any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9).
So the Lord saved every one of the children of Israel at the Red
sea as they waited upon the Lord.
Even when everything goes wrong, stand still and acknowledge God
as God in it.
