| Terrorist Attack on America - some Biblical thoughts
"Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and
slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?"
(Lk 13:4)
An immediate question asked by many people when disaster strikes is:
"How can God allow this to happen?" The Lord Jesus was asked this question in
Luke 13: 1-5. His response was not to give reasons but to call to repentance, "...unless
you repent you will all likewise perish."
Another reaction which we need to be careful of is the panic factor.
Terrorist acts are designed to create terror. The Lord encourages His people in Psalms
91:5: "Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the
arrow that flieth by day."
When Jesus speaks of things to happen in the last days (as in Matt 24) he
commands us: "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is
coming (vs 42)".
Paul tells the Christians in Thessolonica "not to be soon
shaken in mind or troubled, either in spirit or by word or be letter."
2 Peter 3:11
"Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought
you to be?" You ought to live holy and godly lives."
