REPORTS FROM THE KWASIZABANTU EGLISE PROTESTANTE DE
BOBIGNY
(`Protestant Church of Bobigny)
In the last weeks, 3 main events took place at our church.
The first one was the visit of one co-worker of Open Doors on
January 25th. This Christian organisation supports the persecuted Christians
throughout the world. Thanks to the sharing of his experiences and the showing of a video
on the Sudanese civil war, it was an opportunity for our congregation to grasp what
sufferings our brethren in this country have to experience because of their faith.
What a privilege we have to be able to live our faith freely and openly without fear of
being punished for it. But also what a challenge to see how strong the faith of these
brothers and sisters grows in strength and how the number of Christians increases in those
countries while we, in the Western world, are often so shy about our faith.
We have so much to learn from these brethren.

The second event took place on February 4th and 5th.
A German brother, Peter Töpfer started in our congregation a 12-day tour in France to
share his testimony in congregations and public halls. Peter experienced a dramatic
conversion when he was touched by the Lord and turned away from the wicked life of a pimp
over more than 200 prostitutes, to later become a preacher of the Gospel with a powerful
message, especially for the young people. Through these messages, he could warn the young
people about the dangers of music, nightclubs and the ways leading to this kind of life.
After seeing posters in the streets,
some young people from a public school attended the meeting because they had to write an
essay on prostitution and therefore could hear this clear message. They even made a video
of the meeting and left with Bibles and autographed books of Peters testimony.
Peter could also present the wonderful message of the Cross of Jesus-Christ being
himself a living proof that Jesus love and mercy are greater and more powerful than
our most wicked deeds.
Finally, some special event took place in our church on February 16th since
a TV crew came to film the Sunday service. This was part of a documentary France2 (the 2nd
biggest TV channel in France) is currently doing on one of our Christian sisters, Monique
Legal. She has been, as a nurse, a Christian testimony for over 50 years in Bobigny, a
city with many problems of drugs, poverty, crimes, immigration
Her light shone in
this difficult environment throughout the years thanks to her commitment, kindness and
loving care of the people around her (Luke 10/30).
The Church is the fruit of her dedication. So, this TV channel wanted to make a ½-hour
documentary on her. Part of this documentary will be a portion of the Sunday morning
service but also of the meal we shared together. This documentary will be broadcast on
March 30th.
Our prayer is that all those who will watch will be touched not only by the life of our
sister but also but the short extract of the message the TV crew will take in this
documentary. We are also thankful that the lady journalist will ask her superiors to come
back and have a live telecast of a Sunday morning service.

Filming from the street. Quite an event for the people waiting for the bus !

We thank the Lord for these events but especially for the work He is doing in the
hearts of the people. |
