Rev Erlo Stegen preached (after the Golden Wedding Celebration)
on Acts 19: 19 & 20:
"Many of them also which used curious arts
brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price
of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God
and prevailed."
The seven sons of Sceva had the right theology but had
never dealt with sin and found Christ in their own lives. Thus, the demon possessed man
overpowered them and caused them to flee "wounded and naked." When the believers
in Ephesus heard about this incident they began to confess their own works of darkness.
Many are preaching the right thing but never confess the hidden darkness in their own
lives and thus are not victorious but are shown naked and wounded to the world.
Since the beginning of the revival in 1966 God has
convicted people of things which they must part from and they have being bringing things
to be burnt.
The things being burnt today fall into different categories:
Witchcraft fetishes (including talismans, good-luck charms, love-potions, New-Age books)
Things are stolen and can't be returned to their rightful owners;
Articles bought on the black market or from the profits of prostitution.
