One of Kwasizabantu Mission’s outstations was burnt down in an arson attack early on Thursday morning, 3rd January 2008. Mthaleni mission has been mightily used of God to bring many to Christ. Pastor Sipho Zondi, a Kwasizabantu co-worker, said that he and the young people’s choir had been at an “umlindelo” (a late night “wake”) and when they returned at 1:30am it was to find that the whole church building was on fire. Neighbours right next to the church described  how they heard a huge explosion at about 1am and the next thing the whole church was aflame. It is suspected that the church was petrol-bombed, because of the sudden explosion and the fact that there had been 3 other recent threatening incidents.

Besides the loss of the church building there were also a lot of personal belongings of children, some of whom are orphans and others who have been chased away from their homes because of turning to Christ. The Lord is moving in revival power in this very rural district, close to Greytown, and many children and young people have repented - truly repented - to such an extent that they turned away from spiritism in whole-hearted obedience to Jesus Christ. These young people have a marvelous choir, with shining faces, and they have been preaching near and far. It can be expected that the devil gets upset when his work is being damaged!

On 11 January, a tent was pitched as a temporary measure until the church can be rebuilt. Food, clothing and other essentials were also brought to the Mthaleni mission. Please pray for Pastor Sipho Zondi, a very dear brother in the Lord, and the many Christians who have been affected there.

The case was immediately reported to the police. The policeman in charge of the case at the Pomeroy SAPS is Superintendent Magugu and his phone number is 082 417 6630. The main landline telephone number for the Pomeroy SAPS is 034 6621 007.
