Tent Meetings at Mthaleni - Pomeroy
Tent Evangelistic meetings were held at Mthaleni (Pomeroy) from 13 January to 2
February 2003.
Kwasizabantu co-workers Dumisani Makhoba and Robert Maphanga were assisted by local
co-workers, Martin Stegen and Thoko Khuzwayo and Fonono Khumalo (and local pastor Sipho
Zondi).
Services were held every evening and the attendance was very good. Mostly young people
came to the Lord including a number of children. Some parents threatened their children
that if they associate with Kwasizabantu they will no longer pay their school fees and
support them. This is because the Gospel presented by Kwasizabantu insists on a clear
break with `amadlozi' (ancestral worship). This is not a vain threat since some have been
kicked out of their homes last year when a KSB team preached in the area and some children
came to the Lord. A certain girl was sent out of the home for a whole year and has only
recently been accepted back at home; she still holds on to her faith.
Many in the Mthaleni area have been influenced by a cult called `Shembe'
which is a syncretistic mixture of Christendom and Ancestral worship, and Shembe is called
the saviour for the blacks. Nevertheless, many attended the services.
Another young man of 16 or 17 was told by his parents that they will stop paying his
school fees and his books. He came to the services every day and assisted the team. Please
pray for him and the others who suffer persecution.
During the last week about 4 schools a day were visited. There was a positive response
to the message and many requests that a Kwasizabantu team returns. |
