Jan Pienaar reports on the work in Paraguay where he will be for December 2008 - January 2009: The visit to Paraguay has been a great blessing. I was blessed to
find Herbert and Mientjie immersed over their heads in the Lord's work. They are having
services every Thursday and Sunday in the home where they live with Rudi, Herbert's
brother, in Asuncion. They have moved to Paraguay about a year ago, and Herbert believes
that spiritual work goes together very well with physical work. He actually said that all
the people he has seen coming to the Lord, were touched by the way Christians were working
together. So Herbert and Peter Siebert, who has visited the mission in South Africa for a
year about 5 years ago, and who is Herbert's right hand when it comes to practical work,
are not afraid to tackle new projects together. Because of this, Rudi's property has had a
change of face. Many loads of topsoil has improved the soil and also lifted the surface
which tends to be marshy. A new security fence has been erected, and the flat where
Herbert and Mientjie live has received a beautiful new bathroom and kitchen and the
bedrooms new floors and fans for cooling. They have just finished some terraced flowerbeds
outside, and are now laying beautiful paving from natural paving stones next to the house
and between the house and the flat. We have conducted quite a number of services since I arrived 3
weeks ago. We were invited for 3 services at Rio Verde which went very well. I was amazed
by the number of people (Russian Germans) who attended. It was held in Johan Wolf's house
and between 30 and 40 people attended each service. Most on Sunday morning when there was
at least 40 people. They seem to be hungry for the word of God. The service was about a women being submissive to her husband and how she could be a blessing and a help meet to a man. On Saturday evening Herbert spoke about Psa 107:23-28 It was about a person leaving his comfort zone and then seeing the miracles of God. On Sunday morning we spoke about walking in the light with your
life. Bringing our sins to the cross. And to be set free from your sins. We read from Luk
4:18 For next Saturday and Sunday evening the plan is to go to Santa Rosa, not far from Rio Verde, where the radio station is from which Herbert's sermons in Plat Deutsch are broadcasted. We are expecting more spanish speaking Paraguayans there. Then for Christmas 3 days at Rio Verde, and then for a week to Bolivia where Jacob Unger has invited us. Jacob is a Russian German who also visited KSB together with Johan Wolf. In the mean time Herbert is preparing for his Radio sermons for the weeks when we will be away. |
