Rural Farmworkers Gripped by Gospel - Petrussteyn
and surrounding area

A team of 11 Kwasizabantu missionaries, from KSB and Smithfield, have experienced
abundant blessings upon their ministry in the Petrussteyn areas in the Free State.
Farmworkers were gripped by the message. The team was able to minister in schools.
A combined team of 7 from Smithfield with Gideon
Jacobs and 3 from Kwasizabantu were invited by Mrs Martha Mabokwane from Petrus Steyn. 30
services were arranged for the 4 days and the team addressed approx 3800 people on farms,
schools, clinics, a hospital and an old age home. About 400 km radius was the distance
between services.
Many of the people remarked that they had never
heard the Gospel in such a clear way. The choir from Smithfield was a mighty instrument in
the Lord's hands, people just seemed to melt when the choir sang and then they received
the Word with joy. Some meetings were in small worker's houses on the farms with groups of
only 10 or 15 people. At the old age home, an old man refused to attend the service when
he was invited; he said that he had sold his soul to the devil and didn't care if he went
to hell. However, once the service started he wheeled himself in on his wheelchair and
listened attentively to the sermon. Afterwards he was so thankful, he said he never heard
the truth like that. The general attitude of the people in the old age home was that they
were rejected and just waiting to die. They were so grateful for the message of hope that
was brought to them.
The farmers were very willing to allow their
workers to attend services, even in working hours. At many of the farms we were invited to
come back again.
The hunger for the Truth was clearly seen and
the realisation that what people need is Jesus the Saviour who came to save His people
from their sins.
