USA - June 2002

(19 June) - Co-workers, John Powys and Kjell Olsen, returned
safely from their trip on 18 June 2002. It was a blessed and very intensive trip. Services
with Russian brethren were always with translation, because most do not understand
English. The meetings were appreciated and there are many invitations to return.
(13 June) - John and Kjell report that the Lord has been blessing
their trip. Last night, 12 June, they preached to a large Russian Baptist congregation in
Everett, Seattle. The theme, started by John, was the story of the Samaritan woman from
John 4. The Russian believers usually expect two sermons and John and Kjell expounded
about the thirst of the woman (which she tried to quench with many men) and how Jesus
alone can satisfy the longing of the soul. She was able to go (vs 26 and 27) to the men of
the city and tell them to come and see a real Man.
The meeting on 13 June is in another Slavic church in Everett.
On Saturday morning they fly to Knoxville, Tenessee.
They were at the Telakogee Baptst Camp site for the family
conference until Sunday (9 June 2002)
They also took a service in a Russian Baptist church on Sunday
night.
