Tuesday morning, 11 December 2001 - Rev E Stegen Ps 119:9 Q: Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? A: By taking heed thereto according to thy word. We read of the way of a young man. It is a well-trodden road with tracks left for years to come. When the Voortrekkers went over the Drakensberg, they had to go down very steep places. There they chained the wheels of the wagons and put logs on them that they would not run down the hills. Then they let the wagons slide down the hill smoothly. These wagons were laden and extremely heavy, and at places it went over rocks where the wheels cut deep grooves in the rocks, which can be seen until today. Such are the way of a young man that needs cleansing. How will such a well-trodden way be cleaned from sin? By taking heed to the Word of God. When a young boy's voice begins to break at about 14 - 16, he starts to think he's big and despise his father and mother. This habitual way of rejecting all authority cuts deep grooves in his life, which needs cleansing. The Bible says that we will reap what we sow. Woe to you if you despise and rebel against your parents. You will also one day have children and they will do the same to you. Remember these words and take earnest heed to cleanse your way according to the Word of God. Confess and forsake that way of sin. (At the end of the service 330 Zulu Bibles were handed out to those, who had registered their names the day before, who have no Bible in their family. Mr F. Stegen and another donor bought the Bibles as a gift for these children. But so many that the help of the Gideons was sought. See afternoon service.) |
