New York University visit and assistance for
orphans

A group of 28 New York University
post-graduate students and 2 professors visited the mission from Friday night to Sunday
morning (21-23 July 2007). The group (mostly from social and political science
departments) had been visiting South Africa for a few weeks and is studying the effects of
the Aids crisis, the orphan challenges and the effectiveness of the help programmes. On
Saturday, they had a tour of the mission and the Emseni Care Centre. They also met a group
of orphans, in the local area, who are being cared for by a grandmother. They very kindly
bought them groceries school books and gave it to the children and their care-giver. (see
photos below)
Many groups visit the mission to look, listen and learn. This includes almost daily bus
loads of government school children who come for a day's outing in keeping with their
educational curriculum. They want to see projects that work, especially primary
agriculture. As we explain to every group, the heart of the mission is the Gospel. All the
projects are there to help sustain the ministry. God has blessed the various projects and
many of them are not only self-sustaining but also contributes towards the needs of the
mission.
