Opening of Church Hall at Maqhogo

The official opening of the Kwasizabantu church building took place on the 8th May 2011. About 2,500 attended the opening which had to be held in the tent next to the new building because it could not hold all the people.

Rev Erlo Stegen, director of Kwasizabantu Mission, preached from verses in Psalm 147, highlighting vs 5: “Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.”

He emphasized that the new church is for all people, all languages and all denominations. It is a “garage” to fix people who are in need of salvation, healing and restoration. Jesus Christ is the great “fixer”, the great “mechanic”.

A brief summary of the opening message:

Our great God knows the stars by name – and you too!

Ps 147: 1-4: “Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.”

God, who created the whole universe, knows every star by name. He is truly great. We must honour and praise Him. You need to surrender to God, serve Him, worship Him and obey Him completely. Do not be a hypocrite or deceive others and yourself that you are a Christian be genuine.

Many have wondered what good could come from this Maqhogo area it with all its rocks and thorn bushes. Even government officials couldn’t see the potential of the land here. Now people are amazed at the many types of fruit and vegetables growing here. God can change a desert into a garden. God can do that with broken lives. He can heal marriages and depression, broken hearts and wounds. This new church building is a place where you, whatever your denominational or cultural background, can come to for new life. God will build you up, make all things new and bring new life. This great God who counts and names the stars knows your thoughts and motives too. May you come here and take back life to where you come from. Be a blessing and not a “rotten potato” in your church. The Gospel means Good News. Come to the Lord Jesus and leave your sinful life. Through Christ you can be repaired and start again with a brand new life. This is what this building is here for. If your life is in ruins come to Jesus.

Ministry there, deep in the Tugela valley, has been growing in leaps and bounds. We thank God for all that He has been doing in that area. Many souls have been saved. A number of co-workers live there and there is commuting between the Kwasizabantu and Magqoko on a daily basis.
