“Fixed on God”

Wedding of Martin & Lize

Isaiah 26

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

God’s peace is an everlasting peace, no matter how turbulent it may be all around.

Philippians 4

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Jehovah means, the God which changes not. The peace of Him which changes not will keep you fixed in His peace.

John 15

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Even if this was the only promise in the Bible, all the world’s wealth, if compared to this promise, will only be like a drop.

When we become Christians God gives us a watch, to warn us when things go wrong. Some Christians claim to be free and do not pay attention to God’s watch warning them not to go off the right road. They do as they please, and they end up ship-wrecked.

A certain preacher picked up an hitch-hiker and immediately started to speak to him about his soul. The man replied that he wanted nothing to do with rules and regulations put down by God. He wants to be free and do as he pleases. The preacher tried to press his point home, but the man refused. The preacher prayed for wisdom. Eventually they entered a town, and the traffick light turned red. The preacher simply accelerated and when the man cautioned him to slow down he replied, “I’m tired of obeying all the regulations and rules of the road. I’m free and will do as I please”. Fortunately the hitch-hiker had a bit of insight and his mind opened, so that he understood the lesson the preacher taught him.

We lose God’s peace, when we do things not well-pleasing to Him. His Watch warns us when something is wrong, and we need to give careful attention to this Watch, lest we get badly hurt.
