Wedding of Eleanor Düvel and Jürgen Küsel – With sins forgiven you can seek God’s Kingdom
Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
The bridegroom chose these two Scripture passages that beautifully reflect his testimony and the foundation upon which this marriage is being built.
Isaiah reminds us that God's hand is never too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. Although sin separates people from God, the Lord continually extends His hand of mercy to those who turn to Him.
The message echoed Christ's loving invitation: "Come unto Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." God's invitation to salvation is open to all, but it calls for a response. Like Christiana in John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, who accepted the King's invitation despite ridicule and opposition, every believer is called to walk the narrow road that leads to life. Though the journey may involve sacrifice and misunderstanding, it is the path that leads into fellowship with God.
This is not a message of despair but one of great hope. Through Jesus Christ, our sins can be forgiven, our guilt removed, and our fellowship with God restored. He cleanses the conscience and brings true peace to the heart.
A moving testimony illustrated this truth. A man who had lived a criminal life surrendered himself completely to Christ and, with a clear conscience, decided to hand himself over to the authorities for his outstanding crimes. When the police searched their records, every charge against him had already been marked "discharged." The authorities could not arrest him because, legally, he was free. In the same way, when Christ forgives our sins, He removes our guilt completely. We no longer carry the burden of our past, for He has pronounced us free.
Like the pilgrim whose heavy burden rolled away at the foot of the cross, every believer is invited to leave behind the baggage of sin and embrace the new life Christ offers. God is still doing a new work in those who trust Him. His mighty arm continues to save, sustain, and lead His children from darkness into His marvellous light. Jesus Christ remains the victorious Saviour who has conquered sin, death, and every enemy.
The second Scripture, Matthew 6:33, points to the lifelong priority that should characterise every Christian home: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." In a world filled with anxiety about daily needs, Jesus calls His followers to trust their Heavenly Father, who knows exactly what they require.
The greatest pursuit of life is not earthly success or material possessions, but God's Kingdom and His righteousness. When believers place Him first, they learn to depend on Him in every circumstance, seeking His will above their own and allowing Him to direct each step.
As this bridal couple begins their married life together, these two passages form a beautiful foundation. They testify to God's saving grace, His complete forgiveness, and His faithful provision. May their lives continue to point others to Christ, demonstrating what it means to walk with God, trust Him wholeheartedly, and seek His Kingdom above all else.
