A glorious future (part 2)

Summary of sermon by Erlo Stegen, 06 Jul 2014

(Baba Molefe and his son, who was the head of the SABC, spoke before the service)

Jesus took refuge in Egypt, Africa. God loves Africa. The Bible says princes, missionaries, shall come out of Egypt (Ps 68:31). No politician is the answer. Only Jesus.

Matt 6:33

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

It’s not material things first, but God’s Kingdom and His righteousness.

If you have received Jesus you will never regret it. I speak from experience. I am 87 years today. I received Him as a young man and He has treated me well.

His son also spoke, “unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain that build it.” (Ps 127:1)

Today God steers my life. Give your life to the Master planner. He knows the plans He has for you. He knows what lies ahead for you. Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

The young who trust in themselves shall grow weary, but those who wait and trust in the Lord shall continually renew their strength. They shall mount with wings like eagles. (Is 40:29-31)

The future is bright for Africa, but only if they trust in the Lord. )

Jer 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Yes God’s promise is true that it will get better if we walk with God, but if we walk with the devil it will get worse.

When Israel went into exile God gave them this wonderful promise of hope whereas the false prophets said that things will only get worse and proclaimed doom and gloom. We must proclaim God’s word fearlessly no matter who says what.

It’s amazing that our Creator remembers us and thinks about you and me. God says, “I’ve engraved you in the palm of my hand” (Is 49:16). You are continually in His thoughts. If you are continually in His thoughts, shouldn’t He be continually in your thoughts?

Think of Calvary where He gave His all for you.

A certain communist said to me that he cannot understand most Christians. They lived and died for communism, but Christians are so timid about their faith.

In the whole world there’s no one as fortunate as we are. God’s promises are so rich and full. If God is for us who can be against us? (Rom 8:31)

There’s a glorious future ahead of us if we cling to God and stay faithful to Him. Without God you will go nowhere. Cling to God and your future will be bright. But without God you will be lost and you will have trouble even in your own home.

If God’s promises and what He has done for you doesn’t touch you deeply and transform your life, then you’re dead spiritually.

Jesus said, if you love father, mother, son or daughter more than Me you’re not worthy of Me. (Matt 10:37)

Jesus, the Creator of Heaven and earth, should be first in your life.

Blessed are those who hear these words and put them into practice (John 13:17).
