“‘A New Start'”

Luke 2

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. 33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

This man, Simeon, waited for God’s salvation. He was righteous, devout, feared God and waited for the consolation of Israel. God revealed to Him that he would not die, ere he saw the Lord’s Christ. Is your life such that God can reveal His mysteries to you? Do you obey Him when He speaks to you? God’s Spirit cannot dwell in a filthy place. Sin will prevent Him from revealing God’s mysteries too you.

Simeon went to the temple, being prompted by the Holy Spirit, and took the Lord Jesus Christ in his arms, and said “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation …” What will become of you without God’s salvation? Have you embraced this Christ Child? Could He deliver you yet from your sins? Have you made a full surrender to Him? Maybe you surrender the things you don’t like so much yourself, but your pet desires and ambitions you are not willing to let go. No, you must surrender all to be blessed.

If you have met the Lord’s Christ, things will change in your life. It cannot remain as before. Yes, the enemy will try to rob you of Christ’s blessings and freedom. Even the wise men were warned of God to return a different way to their country, for Herod wanted to kill the child. So too, Satan will try to kill Christ in your life. But if that Child lives within You, you will be able to overcome Satan. He will lead and guide you.

May God find a people to whom He may reveal Himself – in whom His Spirit dwells. Blessed is the one who has made this salvation his or her own.
