Actions speak louder than words

Sunday service, Erlo Stegen, 06 May 2018

Acts 1

1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

Luke wrote firstly to Theophilus of all Jesus began to do and teach. Take note of the order, firstly that which Jesus did. This book is also about the acts of the apostles, not firstly what they taught, but what they did.

We like to change the order and speak a lot, but actions speak louder than words.

Before you listen to what a person says, first look at what he does, look at his life.

Many times we talk a lot but our lives do not underscore what we say. However, remember that your life carries more weight than your words. It doesn’t help that you speak in such a holy pious manner but your life doesn’t confirm it.
