“God’s Compassion with Severity”

Romans 11

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

His kindness and His His severity are two sides of the same coin. The love of God can never be held in separation from His severity. Should you have love without God’s righteousness, or righteousness without God’s love, then it is deception and not of God.

2 Timothy 2

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Romans 6

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Titus 2

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

God’s grace brings salvation from sin. It is this grace, that once it enters a person, teaches and instructs them to walk soberly and righteously, denying the lusts of the world. How can it be that you have God’s love abiding in you, and yet you are deteriorating in righteousness and holding onto sin?

The grace of God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, saves a person from his sin and doesn’t leave a person remaining in it.
