“God’s Way for Marriage”

Wedding of Nonto and Sibusiso

Jeremiah 31

3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

4 Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: Thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, And shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

In Jeremiah 31 v 3,4 it says: ‘ The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. 4 I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful. …” ‘ and in the last part of v 34, it says: “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

I asked about the lives of the two young people getting married today.

Nonto has been a model student and this example continued when she started teaching. When the minister said that someone wanted to get married to her, she said that she still had four years of study to complete. She didn’t just drop everything to get married. During this time there were other young men who contacted her via cellphone and she stood firm and didn’t listen to what they were trying to do.

During her engagement time she has been an example.

The bridegroom has also lived in good way. At university he backslid but he never went into drinking or immorality. He then returned to the Lord and has lived circumspectly. He had something like a vision about the girl the Lord said he should marry. He went to a co-worker and said he had seen the girl he should marry but he didn’t know her name.

Eventually they found out who it was but the bride said she was busy with her studies. The bridegroom waited and today is now the celebration of what the Lord showed him a few years ago.

In this new life you must live according to what God shows you and do things as He instructs. In a marriage it is important that the parents stand together and live godly lives otherwise the husband might push the wife out of the home. My mother-in-law also stayed with me in my house. It is important that the example these young people have set continues and that they follow the Lord in everything that they do in their family and extended family. For God has said that He will forgive us our sins and remember them no more if we come to Him and follow Him. Then He can help us and build us up for He loves us with an everlasting love.

A husband has a huge responsibility – he is responsible for his wife spiritual well-being. A wife may never rule her husband. The way she treats her husband will be the way her children will treat her. Often children go astray because of a mother’s influence.
