“Light Separated from Darkness”

Wedding of Londiwe & Musa Hadebe

Genesis 1

1 In the beginning God …

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

John 12

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

This is a wonderful word. The bride and bridegroom told me their testimonies and they are both very similar. Both went through a very difficult time.

The bridegroom’s father was a hard man, but he also taught them good things. One day he called his sons together and he said to them that he doesn’t ever want to hear from others that they’ve caused trouble among the girls. His father wasn’t a Christian, so sometimes you find that the heathen see what’s right and wrong clearer than some Christians.

As a young man he was afraid to take a step out of line because of his father’s strong warning and today they reap the good fruit.

When the bridegroom got converted he shared it with his parents. He told them that he was separating from the things of the world and anything that had to do with ancestral worship.

His mother was a Christian but had compromised and mixed things of the world with her Christianity.

God however has His laws and He doesn’t change. What He hated in the Old Testament He still hates, like homosexuality or mixing the things of the world and of God. You cannot claim to be a Christian and have some of the world in your life. That is an abomination to God.

The bridegroom did well to tell his parents right away that he was a Christian and would no longer mix things of the world with Christianity.

His mother cried and his father was quiet for awhile, but then his father spoke. He said to him that because of his decision to become a Christian he will no longer be counted among his sons and he should no longer come to him for help, support or advice. Then he remembered the Word in the Bible that he has to take up his cross and follow Christ. His father also didn’t come for his wedding.

He found a job but the business closed and eventually he approached u. Peter Dahl and got a job.

Later he could even help his mother with a house with electricity.

The bride has a similar story. She has many brothers but because she’s a Christian they didn’t come.

Sin entered the world through a woman but salvation too, for the Saviour was born of a woman without the help of a man. Let all the girls be like Mary and not like the loose girls that sell their bodies and live like prostitutes.

The bridegroom also said that God is number one in his life in everything. This is a wonderful testimony.

We must not be like those that use God as a spare wheel and only call on Him when we’re in trouble.

Communist Russia painted slogans on their tractors, “we will plow, plant and harvest without God.” After 70 years the communist empire collapsed. They didn’t even have food to eat. Their shops were empty. That was the end of this communist empire. They said, “we don’t want the pie in the sky, we want bread now.” Eventually they didn’t even have bread to eat. The only bread available was rock hard stale bread.

Forsake God and it doesn’t go well with you. If you look at the children of those who have forsaken God it is tragic.

We must put God first and we must not mix things.

If you want to serve God, then serve Him totally. If you want to serve the world then do it wholeheartedly.

Before I became a missionary I told God that I want to go into business and make money and would support the missionaries and receive them in my house. I made a list of the things I wanted, like money and a home and a car and many other things and then prayed and asked God to bless it.

But as I opened the Bible I read that Jesus said to Peter, “follow me and I will make you fishers if men.” I was angry and slapped the Bible closed. I decided I won’t listen to God but will do my plans even if I have to do it alone. I went to the minister and told him that I felt God’s will was for me to go home and into business. The minister still asked me if I’m sure it’s God’s will and I lied and I said yes. Then I went home and my mom also asked me what happened to my calling. I became angry with her too and stormed out asking whether she didn’t want me at home.

For 18 months I went through hell as I lived in rebellion against God, but after 18 months I bowed the knee to God and was wiling to go.

Have you seen this Light we have read about? Jesus said, “I am the light if the world”. Has that light reached you? This heavenly light brings everything to light. Nothing is hidden before this light.

Jesus said we must work while we have the light, for the night is coming when no one can work.

If you have light you can see where you’re going, but in the dark you cannot see.

Even if we lose our earthly family, God rewards us with many from the heavenly family.

The Gospel Creates things that wasn’t there, and it takes that which was there, but wasn’t good and grinds it and destroys it.

We see how God transforms a person.

It’s one thing if you speak about the Gospel but it’s something else when the Gospel is alive and lives in your life. Then it bears fruit and transforms you.
