Purified as pure gold

Acts 8:18-22

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Simon heard the good news being preached and saw the signs and wonders the apostles performed. He was amazed, but not long after that God revealed the intents of his heart. The possibility exist that we’re serving God because of the signs and wonders we see.

But thank God that when His Holy Spirit is at work even hidden things are revealed. Have you allowed God to convict you of the state of your heart? Or do you want to remain untouched. Then you will have no part in God’s work.

If the Lord Jesus is among us then He will show us what our heart is like. Do you still desire God to show you your heart or do you fear that your heart be revealed? The letters written to the churches in Revelations contain shocking warnings. Do you remember what the Lord had taught you?

What does Jesus see in your heart? Can you still hear His voice? We read that those whom He loves He disciplines. Therefore we must be zealous and repent.
