“Remain in God’s Will”

Psalms 27

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

To remain in God’s house is to remain in the will of God. He said his prayer and desire is to dwell in the will of the Lord all the days of his life.

But even though that might be your desire too, you must guard against the devil who desires to hurt those who want to serve the Lord. He might come as an angel of light, suggest a certain direction as the will of God, so that you feel very spiritual and think that you can get along without counsel and the fellowship of other Christians.

In Isaiah we read God saying, “My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are not your ways”. And again, “My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Is 55:8-9). It’s so important that we continue to remain low at His feet.

Thokozani also highlighted that he wants to dwell in God’s presence. That is so important to each one’s life. We so easily make our own plans, but we must allow God to have His way.

When we read the Bible we find so many who started well, they walked in the will of God, but later got used to the will of God and started to be careless. God could use them in the beginning but later they could not be used anymore and even became enemies of God. King Saul is a good example. At first he was humble and even hid when they wanted to make him king, but later he became proud and thought he could do things his own way.

So too in living as husband and wife – do not get used to things, but in every situation seek God’s will. Maybe you have followed God from your youth, don’t lose that, but follow him still in marriage. Husband and wife should be an image of Christ and the church.

We read in Jeremiah, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jer 29:13).

Sin separates between brethren. Don’t allow anything to come in between.

When David sinned, it troubled him continually so that his “bones dried up” and he even became sick. Only when he went to Nathan the prophet and confessed his sin did he find forgiveness and freedom (Ps 32:3-5).

If you want to live a godly life, never forget that it’s sin that separates you from God.

Each of us have a conscience and there’s something in your conscience that either accuses you or excuses you. Maybe you cry to God for forgiveness but you don’t find peace. When something comes between you and God seek a child of God to pray with. Have you done that?

May that be your life that nothing comes in between but that you might remain in the will of God, where He has the say in your life, where He leads and guides you to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matt 6:33). Whenever you meet up with a problem, seek Him first.

He lives among living people, who are one with Him, where there is perfect harmony and unity among Christians. That’s what we should be like. In Acts we read how the Christians were united with one accord when the Holy Spirit came down upon them (Acts 2:1-2). That’s why God the Holy Spirit could come down and fill them.

We want to be one with true Christians, not those who are half hearted.

As you stay in His house you will be shielded every day and there you will see the beauty of the Lord and be partakers thereof. The safest place to be is in the perfect will of God. Stay with those on fire for God and have fellowship with true Christians. That’s where you will see the power of God.
