“Sowing and Reaping”

Wedding of Nosipho and Bongumusa Mwelase

Proverbs 18

22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the LORD.

Proverbs 15

1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Before the service Rev Molefe gave a short testimony: As a young man he was a gangster. When he was 21 years old (in 1949), he met with Jesus Christ and his life was transformed. “I brought my sins to Calvary and found grace and forgiveness. There is no other power in this world except the Word of God which can transform a person’s life. There is no political party which can justify a person. Jesus alone is the answer for South Africa’s problems. Jesus is the answer for Africa and for the whole world.”

The Bible teaches us that if a young person enters marriage in God’s will, God is well-pleased with him. It is God’s blessing on his or her life. God wants to bless that person even further.

When the father gives the bride in marriage to the bridegroom, he removes the veil to signify that she is still a virgin. There was no other man in her life.

But even if the devil has destroyed your life, God is still able to make your life completely new.

Let us look at a few points from Prov 33. If a person comes to you in anger but you answer him gently, you will pacify his anger.

God is not mocked; you will reap what you sow. If you sow harsh words, then you will reap anger. Disrespect and you will be disrespected. Sometimes you will reap it immediately and sometimes only after years.

Many children disrespect their parents and do not honour them, and so the same happens to them when they are parents. God’s commandment with promise is, “Honour your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you …” (Deut 5:16). If you know that you have not honoured your parents as you should have, you must go back and be reconciled to your parents. Otherwise your future will not be good.

Those who fear God do not speak flippantly. They put a watch before their mouth and ask God for words to speak in every situation. However, those who do not fear God speak all manner of filth.

The eyes of God are everywhere and watches both the wicked and the good. God sees even the thoughts and intents of your heart. Even when Jesus was here on earth He knew what people thought in their hearts. When the Samaritan woman asked Jesus for the Living Water, He told her to call her husband. Then He revealed that she had had five husbands and was living together with another woman’s husband. Jesus knew about her sins in detail and they were all numbered.
