Proverbs 3

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Hosea 14

“Ephraim shall say, ‘What have I to do anymore with idols?’ I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me.”

Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.

To seek God’s will is of far greater importance than anything else in life. When we stand before Him, we will be asked whether we did His will. Many call Him Lord, but they do not do His will. He doesn’t know them.

The story is told of a troubled young man who was looking for a wife. He simply flipped open the Bible and read the first verse he found, “you shall go with Joy”. And so he asked the girl named Joy in his congregation to become his wife. She said no. Then he opened the Bible again, and read “Grace and Mercy shall go with thee”. When he shared it with his minister, he wasn’t pleased, but agreed to pray with him about the mater. The preacher also opened his Bible and read the first verse he found, “My Grace is sufficient for thee”. And so she became his wife.

Another story is told of a girl who was troubled because she was getting older without getting married. One evening she prayed loudly under a tree for a husband. An owl got annoyed at the noise and let out, “who?” She replied, “anybody Lord”.

Let us not be like these who go about flippantly with God’s Word. Let us truly seek His will, even in the matter of marriage; then He will direct our paths. Live according to these texts, as we read in Hosea, “The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.”

This implies a consistent walk with God day by day. Such people will be like a green cyprus tree, consistently bearing fruit. Now this particular type of tree doesn’t bear fruit by nature. Yet God says, you will be a green cyprus tree, bearing fruit by God’s supernatural power. God must lead you.

The sun has different effects on different materials. It melts butter, but hardens concrete. So too, the Gospel brings life to some, but others are hardened.

May you be upright and godly, then you will blossom and bear fruit. Every day will be better than the previous one. Cling to these truths and live in them, and it will bring heaven into your lives.
