Be careful how you build

Sunday service, Erlo Stegen, 11 Jun 2017

Matt 7:24-27
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Solomon had built many houses, but because his heart was drawn after foreign women, much of what he built collapsed. Solomon was abundantly blessed, but because of his disobedience to God’s clear command not to marry heathen women, his works were destroyed.

Paul writes that he had laid the foundation like a wise builder but each one should be careful how he builds on this foundation (1Cor 3:10).

Parents you should be blessed because of your children and your children because of you; your children should share in your blessing.

My desire is that your children will be blessed because of you. That they will share in your blessing. That they too will meet the Lord Jesus, which is the greatest blessing of all!

(After the message, some from the congregation gave testimonies of the wonderful things which God had done for them, praising and thanking God for His goodness.)
