“Flee the Lusts of the Flesh – Escape for Your Life”

2 Timothy 2

22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Many are absolutely destroyed by youthful lusts. Our text does not say that one has to fight against it or wrestle with it. You must flee away from it – that is the only way. You have to flee from it physically, not only in your thoughts.

A promiscuous life destroys your health and taps your energy. Your spiritual life can never survive the attack of lust. However, a person who lives a pure life is obvious to everyone around him or her; even their very words bring life.

During the recent tsunami in Indonesia, almost all residents of the villages on the island of Simeulue escaped, although their island was only 40km from the epicentre of the earthquake which caused the tsunami. For generations the memories of a previous tsunami was passed down, that the sea withdraw before returning with a vengeance to cover large areas of the villages. So when they felt the quake and saw the sea withdrawing, they remembered what they were taught and fled up the mountains and so escaped destruction, though their homes were destroyed.

In the same way God warns you today to flee to the mountain of Golgotha, receive forgiveness of sins and be saved from everlasting destruction. Will you obey His voice?
