“God Gives Them Light”

Funeral of Neil Witthöft

Revelation 22

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

We read in our text that “His name shall be on their foreheads.” It is sweet when you know that “I own my Lord and He owns me”. Although Neil’s passing on is a great loss to us it is great gain to him for he enters the glory of Is 64:4, “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiteth for Him.”

Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” The brighter the light of God shines the more is revealed in one’s life. Neil is blessed for he continually walked in the light with the Lord. Whenever God revealed something to him he brought it to the light so that the precious Blood could cleanse him.

Not everyone will see God. Not everyone loves the light of God, for Jesus says in John 3:20, “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.”

Test yourself whether you love the light of God and live in God’s light. If you are walking in sin and darkness then repent today and come to the light of God that your sins might be washed away, that you too can “see His face” and have “His name” upon your forehead, and reign with Him eternally.
