“God Says – What do You Say?”

1 Peter 1

15 but according to the Holy One who has called you, you also become holy in all conduct;

16 because it has been written, Be holy, because I am holy.

Hebrews 13

5 Set your way of life without money-loving, being satisfied with present things; for He has said, Not at all will I leave you, not at all will I forsake you, never!

6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?

We read here that God has said … Therefore we can boldly say. What is your reply when God had spoken?

We serve a thrice holy God. He commands us to be holy even as He is holy. Before you do something or make a decision you would do well to ask yourself, is this I am about to do holy even as He is Holy?

Such a life is indeed impossible with man but with God it is possible for He promises, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”.

When God speaks to you, how do you react to that?

We read that we must be holy in all conduct. This is what God says to you. What do you say about that? What is your reaction and conduct like?

Study the Bible what God says about the conduct of a man and woman in marriage. Do not look at how its done in this day and age, but at what God says how you should live according to the Bible.

God also commands us in these verses to “set your way of life without money-loving, being satisfied with present things”. What do you say about this? Are you making sure that there is no money-loving in your life? Are you satisfied with the things you have? God promises that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

There are people who do not serve the Lord because of money. Some even sell their bodies for money!

Jesus said, in His sermon on the Mount:

Matthew 6

19 Do not treasure up for you treasures on the earth, where moth and rust cause to perish, and where thieves dig through and steal.

20 But treasure up for you treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust cause to perish, and where thieves do not dig through and steal.

21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Do you say yea and amen to this Word and confess and forsake your sin of worry about treasures and wealth on earth?

At the Judgement Day we will go to hell if we were disobedient to God’s Word. Jesus said that His Word will judge us (John 12:48). He also said:

Matthew 7

21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.

We must do God’s will. We must do what He says. God’s Word is law, there is no free choice. We have to obey or perish forever unless we repent.

In Hebrews, God says:

Hebrews 13

4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge fornicators and adulterers.

If you as a married man or woman do not walk according to His Word for married people and their role in marriage God will judge you. What does your marriage look like?

Above all we must “become holy in all conduct”.

God is a covenant God. A covenant has two sides, God’s side and your side. Do you keep your side of the covenant?

You might have received the most wonderful promises from God but if you do not keep the conditions you will lose both the promise and crown. Every promise has a condition.

E.g. Judas lost his promise because of his secret sin. He received the most wonderful promise to sit on one of the 12 thrones prepared for Jesus’ 12 disciples.

God might have given you the most wonderful promise but unless you fulfill the conditions that promise is of no value.

We nullify God’s promise to us if we do not keep to His conditions.

If you live in disobedience to God you live in a fool’s paradise if you think you are on your way to heaven.

The Church of Christ is also called the Bride of Christ, pure and spotless, without blemish. That is what the Church of Christ must be like.
