“Seek the Lord and Trust in Him”

Wedding of Mthetho Simelane and Gabisile Buthelezi

Psalms 37

3 Trust in Jehovah, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness.

4 Delight thyself also in Jehovah; And he will give thee the desires of thy heart.

5 Commit thy way unto Jehovah; Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.

Today is the first anniversary of the burning down of the auditorium. Look at this new auditorium! God is faithful, we can trust Him if we stay close to Him.

The couple marrying today want to start with God and they are entering a new “land”. People will tell you to do this and that because of custom but we can’t go into that land unless we know God is with us.

Trust in the Lord -You trust in someone you know and with whom you have a relationship, not someone you don’t know. David had a relationship with God and had experiences with Him.

To marry means you had days of seeking the Lord and of Him speaking to you where you said you would trust Him as He doesn’t make a mistake. It’s good to trust God.

King Hezekiah trusted God and got rid of the idols. He could trust God and didn’t need the idols. Have you done the same? Don’t worship anything except the one who died for us.

Ps 146 Don’t trust in man whose spirit departs when he dies and nothing is left. Remove all that distracts your eyes from the Lord. Be prepared to leave all aside no matter how much you love and honour it.

Dwell in the land – If things don’t work out our way, the way I feel is right we want to run away. Stay faithful, feed on God’s faithfulness. Cowards run away. We don’t understand them and the way they live, we go against authority, but we should be faithful whether we feel like it or not. Don’t rebel but submit, bow. If you are called to a place bow to the authority there. Love the lord and serve Him with all your heart and all will turn out for good. It is a privilege to love God and bow to Him and be satisfied with that.

In marriage you can’t do as you like any more; there is always the other one to consider. The husband is the head and he must lead his wife and she must be able to honour and respect the man. All praise the new wife today but will they praise her in ten year’s time? What will they say then? May today not just be a show or hypocrisy. May people see God alive in your life and believe He truly changes things.

Delight yourselves every day in the ways of the Lord – Become the least and servant of all. Have one thing in mind – do God’s will, not yours. If we know something is from God it’s easy to submit but if it’s a person it takes grace to bow and say yes, Lord, your will not mine. You’ll find Jesus when you bow; then you can walk with God.

And He shall give you the desires of your heart – He will do this when he has complete control of your life. Wife- be a help-meet for your husband and let him beautify you and cleanse you/sanctify you for the Lord. But never become one with your husband in the wrong things.
