Food preparations for Youth Conference

One of the more important arrangements for a Youth Conference is food. With more than 5000 young people expected from 28 June to 5 July, who will receive 3 meals a day, you can imagine how important it is that ample food is available.

Some stats: 1600 kg of brown sugar; 1600kg rice; 600 kg of samp (dried corn kernels that have been stamped and chopped until broken but not as fine as Mielie-meal or mielie rice); 100o kg maize meal; piles of coffee, salt, amasi (curdled milk). A number of cattle have also been slaughtered. Up to a ton of chicken is usually used for a chicken-stew. Plenty of fresh vegetables are also used. We were grateful for vegetable donations from Mr Van Rensburg of Langplaas. He gave large quantities of carrots, sweet-potatoes and onions.
