Special Services at Gordon KwaSizabantu

A weekend of special services was held, 14 to 16 February 2014, at the Kwasizabantu branch in the Gordon area in KwaZulu-Natal. The mission is situated near the Gordon Memorial Mission. Rev Stegen took the main service on Saturday morning. The church was packed as they heard his sermon from 2 Chron 7:14. He also gave the history of revival in the Msinga area. It was 5 decades ago that he saw smoke on the Msinga hillside coming from many burned out huts. The prosecutor of Tugela Ferry took Rev Stegen into a large shed which was full of the corpses of young men who had perished in a battle the previous day. Tribal warfare was taking hundreds of lives. The prosecutor asked: “Can’t you preachers do anything about this?” It was a challenge that Rev Stegen took up before the Lord and soon he was preaching to large crowds in the Msinga area. Many came to the Lord and revival broke out.

The mission is not only preaching the Gospel in the area. Attempts are being made to grow crops which are suitable to the arid climate of this wilderness area. Some of the plants which the mission has planted are to provide oil for cooking or diesel (biofuel).
