New Emseni Packhouse Comissioned
The 2026 avocado harvesting season opened on Monday, 23 June. It was also the opening day of the newly installed Emseni Farming packhouse facility.
Construction of the 15.000 sqm facility began 11 months ago. Featuring 7.000 sqm of cold storage space and three reefer loading bays dedicated to export avocados, it is a dream come true.
At the heart of the packhouse is the state-of-the-art Masgcor Tomra packing line. With dedicated capsicum and avocado infeed and packing designs, the 8-lane machine can achieve up to 12 cups per second and up to 36 tons per hour on avocados. The world leading camera technologies consist of a combination of 9 colour and infrared cameras for each lane, capturing up to 300 images of each fruit.
This allows Emseni to provide each individual customer with the exact quality and quantity of fruit they require and maximise orchard yield and income for the grower.
